Dave Rose Construction

About Us

In 1959, Frank L. Rose began delivering sand and gravel while working as a bus driver and mechanic for the Mexico Academy and Central Schools. With the help of his three oldest sons (Doug, David and Richard), Frank was able to expand his small trucking business and offer a full range of excavation services, forming FL Rose & Sons. It was 1969 when Frank retired from the Mexico School District's bus garage and sold the family business to his son David.

Under the new ownership, the business pursued more commercial projects. Success with these projects enabled the business to increase its fleet of trucks and equipment. Then in 1975, David almost lost it all when a general contractor that he was working under declared bankruptcy. This learning experience only made the business stronger and became incorporated as Dave Rose Construction in 1979.

Over the next 15 years, DRC continued providing full excavation services while expanding into environmental projects. These projects include residential and commercial building demolition, break wall construction and cleaning up polluted sites. With successfully completing these projects, DRC has built a very strong working relationship with the NYS DEC, Army Corp. of Engineers and the Department of State.

David's son Charlie joined the family business after graduating Alfred State College in 1994. With this addition, DRC pursued larger site development projects and expanded the services offered for shoreline construction. The Fasttrac and McDonald's of Mexico, the Pleasant Point Development, the NRG break wall and multiple jobs for the NYS DOT are just a few examples of such projects.

At the end of 2009, David did as his father did 40 years earlier, sold the business to his son and retired. As for 2010, DRC will keep on trucking (and excavating, grading, etc...)
